The SEVEN Purposes of The Church At Sterchi Hills
_WORSHIP - To worship God in Spirit and Truth
We desire to worship God in everything we do and say. Whether at church as we sing, give our tithes and offerings and listen to the sermon. Whether we are at work, at home or at the ball park. We desire to live our lives as an act of Worship to God.
DISCIPLESHIP - To be fully devoted disciples
We desire to be a church that makes fully devoted disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ and not merely converts or just adding another name on our membership role. We desire to grow in wisdom, knowledge and understand concerning the deepest truths of God. Thereby growing mature in Jesus Christ through sound doctrineand the application of Biblical truth into our everyday lives. i.e. We will believe the Bible and do what it says.
PRAYER - To be yielded to God in prayer
We desire to be a church that prays. In all our decision making, we desire to be led by God and not by our own wills, preferences and ambitions. We desire to know God's will for ourselves, our families and our church family. Continuously praying, 'Not my will, by Yours be done, Lord!'
FELLOWSHIP - To build lasting friendships
We want to enjoy life and have lots of FUN together, living life to the fullest! We desire to build relationships with one another that can grow to the deepest level possible. To encourage, nurture and build up one another in Christ. Lovingly and without condemnation we will hold one another accountable to be the kind of spouse, parent, child, employee etc. that God desires us to be.
MINISTRY - To encourage every member to be a minister
We believe that every member of the body of Christ has a vital role to play in ministry within the local church. Therefore it is our ambition that EVERY member use their gifts and talents to be a minister at our church. The ideal being that 'everybody had one ministry' before 'anybody had more than one ministry'.
EVANGELISM - To witness locally
We desire to impact our community with the message of the gospel. As God's Spirit draws people to Himself, we will do our part by drawing people to the church facility through personal and public invitations to church services and special events; by going out into the community through acts of service and love; and by individually sharing our faith and testimony with others in our community.
MISSIONS - To witness globally
We desire to impact our world with the message of the gospel. God has blessed our church with relationships with Christians in many countries around the world. We desire to turn these relationships into mission partnerships, using the many spiritual and practical resources that God has blessed our church with for His glory. Through His power we will seek to push back the darkness and establish His Kingdom around the world.
