History:
_Our Beginnings: Our church began meeting at Powell High
School in 1995. Later that year we moved to Quality Inn, North for a
few months. In September 1996 we moved to an office complex on the
corner of Callahan and Central Ave. which we leased and revamped into a
worship center and Sunday school. We spent seven years in this location.
In 1997 we purchased 15 acres on Dry Gap Pike (our current location) over looking the Sterchi Hills subdivision. The building of our current facility began in June 2002 and we moved into our new building in April 2003, just in time for Easter!
Our Name & Denominational Affiliation: The Church was founded as Elohim Baptist Church, yet when we moved to our new facility overlooking the Sterchi Hills Community, we were led to adopt a name that was consistent with the early churches in the Bible. e.g. The Church at Antioch; The Church at Corinth, The Church at Ephesus etc. Hence the new name: The Church at Sterchi Hills.
We remain a member of the Knox County Association of Baptists.
Worship Music Style: Our morning services are led by a praise band and contemporary worship music.
Our evening service is very informal and with a perfect blend of contemporary songs and traditional hymns.
Bible Translation: We welcome and use of all mainstream Evangelical Christian Bible Translations.
